Clendenon, Harding Named To PING All-Region Golf Team

May 29, 2008

NORMAN, Okla. - Lamar men's golfers Casey Clendenon and Justin Harding were named to the PING All-South Central Region team as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America Thursday.

Clendenon, a four-year letterwinner from Katy, Texas recently completed his career at Lamar with a senior stroke average of 73.8 and six top-10 finishes. He also helped lead the Cardinals to their eighth-consecutive NCAA Regional appearances and ninth overall. The 2007 Southland Conference Player of the Year was voted to his third-straight all-conference squad after finishing tied for eighth individually at the SLC tourney as LU won its 22nd SLC title.

Harding, a junior from Cape Town, South Africa, tied for fourth at the SLC Championship and ended his season second on the team with a 74.0 stroke average. His best event came in late March when he tied for third at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate on the strength of a pair of 67s sandwiched around a 74. His first- and third-round scores were the two lowest single-round cards for Lamar all year.

PING All-Region teams consist of the top 15 individuals in their region in the Individual Ranking System. Additionally, any player ranked in the top 75 according to Golfstat or the Sagarin rankings not included in their region's top 15 are added to their All-Region team. Members of the PING All-Region teams are eligible for PING All-America honors.
