Soccer Falls in Season Finale at Texas State, 3-0

SAN MARCOS -Lamar University capped its inaugural season with a 3-0 loss at Texas State Sunday afternoon in Southland Conference women's soccer action at Bobcat Soccer Complex.

Lamar finished the season with a 0-18 overall record and a 0-9 mark in SLC play. Texas State finished its season with a 4-12-2 overall record and a 3-4-2 mark in SLC play.

The Cardinals held the Bobcats scoreless in the first half and went to halftime tied at 0-0. However, Texas State wasted little time in getting on the board early in the second stanza. Andrea Grifo scored the game's first goal at 48:05 off a corner kick by Nicole Kinard, who was credited for an assist.

Britney Curry added a pair of goals, both of which were assisted by Lindsay Tippit. Curry's first goal came at 61:05 and her second goal at 78:51 capped the scoring.

Aline Pugliesi, a junior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, led the Cardinals with two shots, including one on goal. Kari Melancon, a junior from Nederland, also had a shot on goal for Lamar. Carrie Mrazek, a freshman from Corpus Christi, had a shot for the Cardinals as well.

Kelsie Binetti, a freshman from Lumberton, made 11 saves in goal for the Cardinlas.

Texas State out shot Lamar 28 to four, including 15-2 in shots on goal. The Bobcats committed 12 fouls compared to eight by Lamar.
